Events at FreeBird Counselling

Pet companionship can be one of the purest forms of unconditional love we experience in our lives. The grief that comes with losing a beloved animal companion is very real and often misunderstood and discounted which can be incredibly isolating.
Many of us can attest to the strength and support we have garnered from our experiences with animals, and that special relationship deserves to be acknowledged and honoured when we lose an animal companion.
FreeBird Counselling is grateful to be offering a FREE eight week support group for people who are experiencing the grief of pet loss. If you are interested in learning more, or would like to join this group, click the link below.
Shared Space

FreeBird Counselling is privileged to share office space with Francis Wooby, BSW, RSW of Wooby Counselling. Francis offers a safe space to feel understood and to heal and grow. I have worked with Francis across agencies over the years and I fully endorse him as a counsellor who works with integrity, skill, compassion, and humour (and so much more). Check out his website here
FreeBird Counselling & Wooby Counselling offer space to other local psychotherapists by the day or half-day on an as needed basis. If you are a local psychotherapist looking to book occasional space, please reach out to hello@freebirdcounselling.com for more information.
Supervision & Practicums
Practising Social Work and Social Service Work in a rural setting is a tremendous privilege that I am grateful to have had the opportunity to do for many years in Lanark County. I was able to get my start in this field thanks to local organizations who saw the shared value in offering student practicum placements. In that same spirit, FreeBird Counselling is committed to creating opportunities for emerging rural Social Work students through practicum placements. If you are a BSW or MSW student looking for a rural counselling placement, please reach out to hello@freebirdcounselling.com.
Peer Consultation
FreeBird Counselling offers a free in-person monthly peer consultation group for local private practice psychotherapists. We believe that community is important and consultation is invaluable for both professional development and personal enrichment. Our meetings are formatted, with rotating chair and we compile resources online for the group to use and share. If you are interested in joining us, please reach out to hello@freebirdcounselling.com for more information.
