Your Mental Health Matters
At FreeBird Counselling, we offer a safe and supportive space for you to be heard, to heal, and to grow.

Our Philosophy
At FreeBird Counselling, we believe in the human spirit.
Everyone deserves to feel at peace within themselves, to feel a sense of belonging in a community of their choosing, to be heard and understood, validated, encouraged, and celebrated.
We provide a safe, supportive space to get vulnerable, face difficult truths, navigate life transitions, process experiences and emotions and work towards goals and visions of the future while learning to love and accept yourself where you are now.

Being Human is Hard
Being human can be lonely, whether you have people around you or not, even in this so called super connected world.
Wondering what is “normal” to feel, think, want, and need can be hard to figure out on your own.
Finding the right person to explore life’s big questions with, to work through tough situations and make sense of our worlds, and to reconnect with yourself and others is one of the most important parts of therapy.
Find the Right Therapist for You
At FreeBird Counselling, we want you to find the right psychotherapist for you.
Try a free 20-minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit — no pressure, just a conversation.

I specialize in providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and offer regular psychotherapy sessions out in nature. I have lived, worked and played in Lanark County for 40 years.

Meet Sunny. Sunny has expertise in being a good dog, offering unconditional love, cuddles (if wanted) and some much needed comic relief from time to time. Some people find the presence of an animal to be grounding and supportive. Sunny is available to join your session.

Land Acknowledgement

At FreeBird Counselling, we acknowledge that the land on which we live and work is the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg People.
This land has been cared for by generations of Indigenous Peoples, and we honour their enduring relationship with it.
We recognize the ongoing impacts of colonialism and affirm our commitment to listening, learning, and supporting healing and reconciliation.
As a counselling practice, we hold space for the complexity of personal and collective histories, and we strive to create an environment grounded in respect, inclusion, and cultural humility.
We are grateful to live and work on this land, and we invite reflection on how we can all contribute to a more just and compassionate future.
