Hello and Welcome to FreeBird Counselling
FreeBird Counselling is a small, values-driven practice that also supports the training and mentorship of future social workers. All student placements are carefully selected and supported through ongoing supervision and collaboration.

My Approach to Therapy
I am genuinely interested and curious about the lives, perspectives, experiences and inner workings of human beings. It is a great privilege to work alongside people as they unravel old patterns, process challenging experiences and examine deeply held beliefs about themselves that may not hold true.
My early work in community development has contributed to a firm belief in supporting clients to address all areas of their lives: recognizing that the connection between mental, physical, emotional, and social helps to foster optimal wellbeing.
Samantha Davidson MSW, RSW

Specializing in EMDR Therapy

Don’t see yourself in the list above? Please reach out anyway. If I don’t have the skills to work with you, I will recommend other options.
FreeBird Counselling welcomes Kim Angell, BSW, RSW to the practice to complete her MSW student placement.
Kim Angell, BSW, RSW
Kim is a Registered Social Worker and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who offers a warm, thoughtful, and collaborative approach to counselling. She provides a supportive space where clients can slow down, make sense of what they’re experiencing, and develop practical tools to navigate periods of change.
Kim brings several years of experience working as a psychotherapist in community mental health settings, supporting adults and families through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life transitions. Her work is grounded in meeting people where they are, honouring their strengths, and moving at a pace that feels manageable and sustainable.
At FreeBird Counselling, Kim offers individual therapy for adults navigating breakups, separation and divorce, and the emotional complexities of family court. Sessions are steady, compassionate, and collaborative, with space for curiosity and—when appropriate—a gentle sense of humour. Her work integrates cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), with a focus on emotional regulation, understanding unhelpful patterns, and building skills that can be carried into everyday life.
Kim holds an Honours Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from Laurentian University and is currently completing a Master of Social Work at the University of Windsor. She has completed advanced CBT certification through the University of Toronto in partnership with CAMH, along with additional training in trauma-informed care, cultural safety, suicide intervention, and PTSD treatment.
Clients often describe Kim as calming, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. Her goal is to walk alongside clients during difficult chapters and support them in moving forward with greater steadiness and self-trust.
Fees
As part of her Master of Social Work placement with FreeBird counselling, Kim offers counselling at a reduced fee until April 9th, 2026. Individual, 50-minute sessions are $100 and couples sessions are $150. Sessions are provided under weekly clinical supervision, with Samantha Davidson, MSW, RSW.
